UGC order hits Rajasthan University teachers’ recruitment

Now, after the stopping of recruitment process in all the universities and colleges of the country by the UGC on July 19, appointment on 23 posts of Rajasthan University has been stuck.

Rajasthan University has been struggling due to a shortage of teachers for a long time. But, from the past few months, the government has taken steps for the recruitment of teachers. The recruitment was going on before the start of the new session. Now, after the stopping of recruitment process in all the universities and colleges of the country by the UGC on July 19, appointment on 23 posts of Rajasthan University has been stuck.

Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan University RK Kothari said: The process of recruitment was going on in the EFM and political science departments, and the envelopes of these recruitment were scheduled to opened on July 27 and 28. But, after the decision of the UGC, this process has been postponed till the next order.” The two departments which are battling the shortage of teachers will now have to wait longer.

Rajasthan University had opened envelopes of nearly half a dozen posts before the order was issued on July 19. The interviews for the same in both the departments were scheduled to take place on July 20, 21 and 22. The university administration had also completed the preparations, but now the recruitment will be postponed until the next order passed by the UGC in this regard. Speaking on the recruitment done before July 19, Kothari said, “The decision of the UGC came on July 19. After that, it was discussed in the government and Raj Bhawan, which has made it clear that the recruitments that have been done in the past will not be affected due to the order. 

Process Stuck
