BJP MP from Bundi, Om Birla claimed that none of the states, not even the non–BJP ruled ones, have in the past four-and-a-half years rule of Narendra Modi-led BJP government, has done any partiality with any state.

Birla was replying to CM Ashok Gehlot’s allegation of partiality in urea distribution, by the BJP-led Central government, that resulted in urea crises in the state.

Speaking to media persons in Kota, on Tuesday, Birla said, “The way the Gehlot government, within ten days of its formation, has accused the Centre of partiality is not at all justifiable.”

Birla claimed that there is no shortage of urea as 10 lakh metric ton of urea is still stored and a total 2.9 lakh metric ton urea would be supplied to the state by December 31 and further supply would be made in January.

“We are very concerned about the issues of the farmers and also supplying urea on time,” Birla said while adding that on recommendation of Union fertiliser minister, the Railways has also agreed to load urea rack, on a priority, for transportation to the farmers on time.

Birla added that before levelling political allegation of partiality against the Centre, he [Gehlot] should have first gone through the data of state agriculture department and even then if he felt that there was shortage or deficiency then he should have moved to Delhi for negotiation.  Instead, within ten days of the formation of his government, he [Gehlot] has started playing politics of allegations, Birla alleged.

The BJP MP added that this signifies that whenever there would be some loophole or shortcoming or hurdle in developmental works in the future in the state, the CM would hold the Centre responsible for the same.  “This is not fair in politics,” he added.

While talking about the Congress-led state government’s functioning and getting directions from Delhi, Birla said it would have been beneficial for the people of state that the government here could take immediate decisions and actions. But it is the internal issue of the Congress party whether decisions are taken from Delhi or Italy, he added.

The BJP-led Central government is impartial and together with BJP-led and non BJP-led states, it has helped nation to progress and development, said Birla. In future too the government will not let any hurdle come across development and progress of the state, Birla stressed.
