All the five sewage treatment plants at the Dravyavati riverfront project are now in final stages of their testing. The results have been ‘satisfactory’ so far and laying of the 81-kilometer long sewer trunk main is also near completion.
“The testing at all the STPs have commenced before last week of May and shall continue for nearly 45 days before these plants could be commission,” says an official. Commission of these shall come as a relief for over a hundred low lying colonies along the project trajectory.
These STPs with a cumulative capacity of 170 million liters per day (MLD) of these nearly 50 MLD of sewerage is expected to be from these low lying colonies while around 100-120 MLD shall be from the major nullas.
These plants after treatment of sewage shall release the clean water in Dravyavati that shall help in providing water for agricultural use at tail end areas and also help in recharge of the water table at large. However, the process is faced with challenges following delay in the release of work contracts for laying of sewerage lines at several locations.
These STPs constructed at a regular distance of 9 kilometers along 47 kilometer length of the project are developed using the sequential batch reactor technology for the first time in the state. The largest of these is the 100 MLD treatment plant at Bambala.
