Congress’ ‘Sankalp’ Yatra’ starting from Chittorgarh on August 24 will culminate in Jaipur in September end after touching upon each district. Moreover, the party president Rahul Gandhi will address the final rally in the state capital.

“The last rally would be held in Jaipur in last week of September or October and Rahul will be coming to attend the concluding rally. He would be attending rallies in selected venues including Baran, Sikar and Udaipur as well,” said a senior leader informing about the development.

Rahul received a huge response during his roadshow in Jaipur on August 11, but since the rally was followed by a party event it restricted the common workers from attending it. Hence, the party has requested him to hold a public rally this time around. To counter chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s ongoing ‘Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’, the Congress has planned Sankapl Yatra at five places starting from Chittorgarh on August 24. Also attempts are being made to drop a message of unity among state senior leaders including AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot, RPCC chief Sachin Pilot, AICC general secretary CP Joshi, former Alwar MP and Orissa incharge Jitendra Singh and LoP Rameshwer Dudi who will share dais jointly to steer the rallies.

However, the party is surprised over the venues selected as the rally schedule has left out Ajmer and Jodhpur, which are home constituencies of Pilot and Gehlot respectively. If a few leaders within the organisations are to believed, it has been done deliberately to evade any chance of infighting.

“Holding Sankalp Yatra in these two constituencies would trigger the leaders’ supporters into sloganeering and groupism which could result int indiscipline. Probably this would have been the reason behind not including the two regions,” said a senior leader.

CONG SLAMS RAJE

Sachin Pilot has slammed Raje government for inviting tenders for Gaurav Yatra despite High Court’s objection over misuse of state machinery for the yatra. Ex-CM Ashok Gehlot echoed the same, “BJP should cancel the yatra.”
