Effective road map should be developed for the better implementation of social security schemes so that the benefits can reach and are also exploited by the eligible poor and the destitute, said Arun Chaturvedi, minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, while addressing the two-day ‘Manthan’ camp organised at OTS on Thursday.

The camp, a joint venture by Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and UNICEF, is being organised to strengthen the plans and programmes introduced by the department across the state.

Chaturvedi also said that it has been a challenge to pass various cases of scholarships, Palanhaar Yojana and pensions, in the last three-and-a-half years. It is time to mutually discuss about getting the benefits of the schemes to the needy. He further told the officials that the satisfaction of serving the needy cannot be fulfilled by any amount of money.

He further asked the district officials to take trips to the field from time to time to find out the weaknesses and remove them with sensitivity on time.

“The collaborative effort of the officials has resulted in the improvement of the hostel conditions, which, in turn, has modified the opinion of general public towards hostels. This is now working as a brand ambassador for the department,” Chaturvedi said.

Chaturvedi informed that almost all the schemes by the department have been made online and the timely assistance is being provided to all by connecting it to Bhamashah Yojna. He appreciated the award received by the department at the national level for online availability of pension scheme and said that it is the result of the efforts of officials.

UNICEF Rajasthan head, Isabel, also added that UNICEF is working closely with the state government for the welfare of children and women.

She appreciated the Palanhaar scheme in Rajasthan and said that this has saved the lives of millions of children. She also emphasised the need to speed up the efforts being made to give nutritious nourishment to the children.
