RAJFED starts buying farm produce

These purchases are being made under MSP by RAJFED which works as an agency to buy the produce from the farmers.

The process to buy moong, urad, soybean and groundnut has been going on in the state and more than Rs 31 crore have been transferred directly to the bank accounts of the farmers via online mode.

Rajasthan state co-operative marketing federation limited (RAJFED) managing director Dr Veena Pradhan informed that amount of Rs 31.75 crore has been deposited online in the accounts of farmers who are selling their produce of these crops on MSP (minimum support price). 

The number of such farmers is 2,956. She added that the payment to the remaining farmers who had submitted original girdawari at the time of selling the produce are also being given the payment while the rest will also be paid.
In the state, the purchase of moong, urad and soybean is being done since October 11 while groundnut is being bought since October 16.

These purchases are being made under MSP by RAJFED which works as an agency to buy the produce from the farmers.

For purchasing these crops 295 centres across the state have been set up by the department of cooperatives and till last week more than 3 lakh farmers had got themselves registered for the purchase of these crops. Of these, the highest number of cultivators till last week were the moong farmers. More than 1.97 lakh farmers of moong had got themselves registered online for purchase on MSP by the government while about 1.7 lakh farmers of groundnut had got themselves registered online. There are also a large number of soyabean cultivators who have got themselves registered online for purchase of crop on MSP.

Rajasthan is a leading producer of these crops across the country.

In the first week of November, chief secretary DB Gupta had also taken a review meeting regarding the purchase of these crops and had ordered that Nayab Tehsildar or Girdawar be given the duty at every purchase centre and directions were issued to all the district collectors regarding it. For maintaining law and order at all the purchase centres police squads have also been deployed.
