With temperature getting reduced and mornings and evenings getting colder, the electricity consumption has got reduced in the city. Currently, the consumption of electricity is between 90 lakh units to 100 lakh units and the sudden rise in consumption which was due to the Diwali decoration has now got normal.

All the major markets had installed decorative lights for Diwali, while in homes too, lights were on the full show which had increased the load on the system as well the electricity consumption. It has become normal now with people returning to the basic routine.

Till a few weeks back when the temperature during early morning time was high, the electricity consumption was also more and many times, it didn’t feel like October’s last week. However, by the second week of November, the consumption has reduced due to the decrease in the temperature.

In many homes, even the fans are not being used which is further reducing the consumption. While the water pressure is also normal, therefore the boosters used during the summers are also not being used these days. During the peak summer days, the electricity consumption in the city crosses 200 lakh units. As such, this is a comfortable time for Jaipur Discom as far as supply to domestic consumers in city circle is concerned.

They are relieved that the festival of lights Diwali has passed without any interruption in power supply during the festival times.

Sources inform that during this maintenance work, about 130 new transformers had been installed in various parts of the city while the capacity augmentation of many existing transformers have also been done. This was done to adjust the additional electricity load which was generated for Diwali.

Though the repair work related to transformers was done during the summers too when during the nights, the electricity faults were reported in several colonies. The repairs and maintenance work has also reduced the consumer complaints lodged at centralised call centre of discom. Discom had carried out the maintenance work of grid substations, 33 KV’s feeders and 857 feeders of 11 KV in the city.
