For the first time probably, the subsidized cooking gas cylinder will cost Rs 500 to the consumers. The oil companies, in their monthly review of the prices of the gas cylinder, decided to increase the rate of the cylinder in both domestic as well as commercial category.

The rate of the subsidized cooking cylinder which will be effective for this month will be Rs 780.  There has been an increase of Rs 35.50 in this cylinder. The rate currently was Rs 744.50 per 14.2 kg cylinder.

The subsidy, which was coming Rs 245.83 has been increased to Rs 279.58. This means that while till now, after deducting the subsidy amount, the cylinder was costing Rs 498.67 to the consumers, but it will now cost Rs 500.42, going beyond Rs 500.

In the month of June too, prices were increased as that time, the rate was increased by Rs 48.

While the consumers availing the benefit of subsidy will only be marginally affected, the ones who also require extra cylinders or buy from the market will be hard hit with the rise of Rs 35.50.

The consumers using the 19 kg commercial gas cylinder will also have to pay more. The rate of the cylinder in this category has been increased by Rs43 and will now cost Rs 1384 instead of Rs 1341 per cylinder.

This means that the restaurants, eateries, and others will have to shell out more money for buying the cylinder. The oil companies review the prices every month and decide on the level of price.
