Rajasthan: Kids to get milk under Annapurna scheme daily

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje made several announcements during her Independence Day speech on Wednesday. The focus of the speech was announcements related to school students, nutrition and farmers. Raje also made announcement regarding rules related to government job for the dependents of martyrs.

Addressing the gathering at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium on the ocassion of Independence Day celebrations, just a few months ahead of elections,  Raje announced that from September, under the Annapurna Milk Scheme students will get milk daily.  Currently, under this scheme, milk is given to the students thrice a week.

Raje informed that for this, additional amount of Rs 203 crores will be made available. She added that apart from nutrient supplement, the childern aged between 3 and 6 years, who are registered with Aanganbadi kendras, expecting women and teenaged girls and boys will be given milk thrice a week. 

For this state government will give Rs100 crore.Raje said that September will be celebrated as “Poshan maah” (month of nutrition). Under this programme, wide publicity related to nutrition and health will be made in urban and rural areas of state. In an important announcement for industry, Raje announced reduction of electricity duty from 52 paisa to 40 paise per unit for induction furnaces, mild steel re-rolling mills and mild steel rolling mills. This will benefit the sector as electricity is one of the raw material for these units.

In another function held in the secretariat on the occasion, Raje complimented the role of government employees in implementing historic works done by the government in last four and half years in the state. 
She said that the responsibility to implement the vision of the government lies with the employees and they did a great job by being a part of Team Rajasthan.
