Rajasthan: Jobless youth protest outside BJP HQ

Demanding jobs more than 200 youths demonstrated outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state headquarters on Thursday. 

As the protesters had not taken prior permission, the police had to use mild force to control the crowd after which more than 80 protesters were taken into custody, who were later released.

The protest was held under the banner of Rajasthan Akikrat Berojgar Sangh which demanded that quota of candidates of other states be reduced in state government jobs and the weightage points of BA in REET-2018 should also be brought down.

The commotion started when the police stopped the agitators from entering the party headquarters to give a memorandum to the BJP leadership. 

The police asked them leave the BJP headquarters and when they refused to do so the cops used mild force to disperse them.

The condemning the police action, Akikrat Berojgar Sangh’s leader Upen Yadav alleged that all the unemployed youth had gathered peacefully to give a memorandum, but the police used force.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in a tweet condemned the police action. Gehlot said the rising unemployment in Rajasthan has led to serious resentment among the youth as the Raje government has failed to fulfil its promises.
