Diabetes management has become a major concern in the recent times with the increasing section of the population suffering from this disease. Leading endocrinologists and diabetes educators emphasize on proper insulin injection technique for better management of diabetes. 

“More than 80 per cent of people living with diabetes in the city fear needles and 70 per cent do not know about right injection techniques,” Dr. S K Sharma, DM Endocrinologist said.“The fear of insulin injections is an important deterrent to good glucose control. To bring such cases out of their needle phobia, they need to be taught the correct injection technique,”he added. 

It is worth mentioning here that according to National Family Health Survey-4, in Rajasthan, 8.1 per cent men and 4.7 per cent women were found diabetic.  A study published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal, Nov 2018 showed that diabetes has become an epidemic in India with more than 7.29 crore patients with diabetes. The study also shows that nearly 9.8 crore people in India may have type 2 diabetes by 2030. 

“Insulin delivery technique education is a critical factor in effective diabetes management and we are committed to helping improve the injection experience for people living with diabetes, through continuous patient education, and innovating high-quality technologies that make a difference,” Pavan Mocherla, Managing Director, BD India & South Asia said.

As per experts the right technique of insulin injection is crucial for patients to avoid complications.
