Rajasthan government will file a review petition on Monday or Tuesday, informed home minister Gulab Chand Kataria. He had called the Rajput leaders for talks on the issue of Padmavat on Saturday. Patron SRKS Lokendra Kalvi, President Mahipal Makrana and other leaders were part of the talks. Also present were the DGP OP Galhotra and ADG Law and Order.

The home minister assured the Rajput leaders that the government is in the process of filing a review petition in the Supreme Court. “The government will appeal. We called the Rajput organisations and told them to join in moving court. If SRKS and Udaipur ex-royals join us as a party, we will be stronger. We would be filing the review petition on Monday or Tuesday,” said Kataria.

“We respect all orders of the government and will ensure security if the film is released, but we also have a legal option to oppose the SC order and we will exercise it, added the home minister.

The meeting was organised at the state secretariat in view of the escalating tension related to release of film Padmavat and the Rajput threat to CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi’s visit to JLF.

The government has assured us that it will go ahead and file a review petition. They have shown us a positive attitude towards opposing the Padmavat. As for becoming a party in the litigation, we will discuss it among our core team then take a decision, said Lokendra Kalvi, patron SRKS.
