At about 10.30 AM, the city’s fire control room received a phone call wherein the caller informed the duty officer of a fire at a plastic and thermocol factory located at Vishwakarma Industrial (VKI) Area. “It was informed that a huge outbreak had occurred due to the presence of highly inflammable materials at Govindam Enterprises factory located on plot number B-123 on road number nine in VKI area. Immediately, the information was passed to VKI fire station which pressed two tenders into service,” officials said.

However, the fire was getting the better of the firefighters’ efforts. Soon, the additional fire tenders arrived on the scene and gave a shot in the arm to the officials’ efforts. For nearly two hours, the fire raged on, however, the firefighters did not give up and continued their efforts. The police meanwhile were busy in helping the firefighters and also keeping the people at bay and managing the vehicular movement,” officials said.

Factories and godowns near to the spot were also vacated so that no ill occurrence happens. “While this was going on, we received another alert that an outbreak had occurred at a transport company’s godown located on road number fourteen. Since all the fire tenders were already employed at the fire at the factory, a request was made to other fire stations of the city to send their tenders for the second fire,” officials said.
