Over the past few years, personnel from the Rajasthan police have not only raised the bar in crime control and maintaining law and order but have also carved a niche for themselves in a field which had no connection with police till a few years back. Only in the past four years, dozens of cops have managed to not only represent the state police in varied sports but have also bagged gold, silver and bronze medals, even in international events.

Now, wrestlers from the Rajasthan Police have now bagged eight gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal at the ongoing Rajasthan State Senior Wrestling Competition. Held from November 9-11 at Lohgarh Stadium, Bharatpur, a total of eleven cops took part in the competition under varied weight categories.

Interestingly, the aforementioned wrestlers are undergoing training under the fifth battalion of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary wherein the coaching is being provided by Rajasthan University’s wrestling coach Rajendra Khatri. Of the eleven wrestlers, SI Deshraj, SI Manu Tomar, Platoon Commander Sheetal Tomar, Constables Dalveer Singh, Sunil Kumar Vishnoi, Vishnu Chahar, Chaggan Meena and Savitri Cheepa struck gold in the competition. While Constables Suman and Khem Singh won Silver Medals and Constable Monika Malav bagged the Bronze medal.

“SI Sheetal Tomar, Manu Tomar and Deshraj were recruited in the Rajasthan Police in 2017 on sports quota on the basis of their performance in wrestling. Sheetal Tomar won bronze in senior national championship held at Indore in 2017 while also striking bronze in Bharat Kesari Dangal held in Bhiwani in Haryana and also in Akhil Bhartiya Chambal Kesari Dangal held this year.
