Rajasthan: Campaign to prevent seasonal diseases

Around 35 lakh houses were surveyed under ‘Mera Gaon-Swasth Gaon’ campaign of the state health and family welfare department

Around 35 lakh houses across the state were surveyed with the aim of prevention of seasonal diseases and other diseases like diabetes and hypertension during the campaign named ‘Mera Gaon-Swasth Gaon’ (My village-healthy village) under the ‘Nyay Aapke Dwar’ campaign. The campaign was conducted by the state’s Health and Family Welfare Department from May 1 to June 30 in which the health of people across the state was checked.  

“The motive of the campaign was to cover 75% population of the state that live in rural areas. Our government is committed to ensure public health and I congratulate the team for successfully completing the campaign,” Kalicharan Saraf, health minister said. 

“During the two-month long campaign, 2.83 lakh village health, sanitation and nutrition committee members were sensitized about the prevention of seasonal diseases,” Veenu Gupta, additional chief secretary, Health said. “Under the campaign, 9.64 lakh water tanks, 9.71 lakh coolers and 7.26 lakh water bodies were examined for potential mosquito breeding and anti-larval activities were held at more than 1 lakh places. Also, 63,218 diabetic and 74,251 patients suffering from hypertension were screened and given medical assistance on the spot,” she added.

As per the date released by the Health Department, around 29 lakh people suffering from various diseases were identified during the campaign and 27,581 TB patients were also found. 

Dr VK Mathur, Director, Public Health said that the campaign was aimed to spread public awareness about prevention of seasonal diseases which are mostly caused due to mosquitoes. “Health officials have been directed to conduct these activities on regular basis to avert any possible outbreak during the monsoon,” said Dr Mathur.
