Rajasthan Assembly Election Results 2018: Veil to lift over the CM face of Congress today, Guv informed

The party office bearers would be meeting the governor of Rajasthan Kalyan Singh later in the day after the leader of the Congress Legislative Assembly is chosen by the newly elected members.

The Congress would be electing its chief ministerial candidate today before staking its claim to form the government in Rajasthan. The party office bearers would be meeting the governor of Rajasthan Kalyan Singh later in the day after the leader of the Congress Legislative Assembly is chosen by the newly elected members. 

Till the time of going to print, the Congress emerged the single largest party with 98 seats in its kitty. Out of 200 seats, 199 went to polls of which the ruling BJP could manage to salvage only 73 seats. In 2013, the party has returned to power by bagging 163 of the 200 seats that went to polls. 

Following the results, chief minister Vasundhara Raje tendered  her resignation to the governor. Meanwhile, the Congress deliberations over the party’s chief ministerial resumed in Jaipur. PCC chief Sachin Pilot and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot were a part of closed-door meeting held with central observer KC Venugopal who was last seen cobbling up a working coalition government in Karnataka.

The Congress felt short of a decisive mandate in Rajasthan. The party couldn’t cross the magical figure of 101 till reports last came in.

The governor Kalyan Singh has given time to Congress party to stake claim on forming the government in Rajasthan. Sources said the CLP meet will decide on the CM candidate and shall meet the governor at 7:00 pm. 

99, and counting

The Congress emerged as the single largest party in Rajasthan with 99 seats in its kitty. Sources said out of 8 party rebels 4, including former minister Babulal Nagar, have won the polls and shall return to party fold.
