Since the day the schedule of Congress national president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Rajasthan was announced, his event in Sagwara is being billed by the Opposition as a ‘mega rally’. The party has planned a grand event at Sagwara area of Dungarpur district on Thursday where Rahul will address a public meeting. A day before the event, PCC chief Sachin Pilot visited Sagwara to personally oversee the preparations and also  released poster of the rally on his Twitter account. The poster with slogan of ‘Aao Chalein Pardarshita Avem Sushasan ki Aur’  urges public to support Congress to bring ‘transparent and good-governance’ in state.

“People of the state are done with the false promises and governance of the present government and will not vote for BJP for another term,” said Sachin Pilot.

Pilot claimed that people not only from Sagwara, but from the entire Vagad region are enthusiastic to welcome Rahul Gandhi. The Vagad region primarily consisting districts of Banswara and Dungarpur and has eight Assembly constituencies. The region has a strong tribal population and Rahul Gandhi will be looking forward to address their concerns along with those of farmers and women.

“BJP won votes of tribal people in the last elections,  but did nothing in return. The disappointment looms large and the people once again want Congress to be back in power so that development can take place,” said leader of opposition, Rameshwar Dudi.

Congress leaders are expecting a gathering of over  3 lakh people at the public meeting. Senior party leaders including Sachin Pilot and party state incharge Avinash Pandey have been camping in  Udaipur near Sagwara from past couple of days to ensure arrangements are in place.

It is the second visit of Rahul Gandhi to Rajasthan in past couple of months. The party workers are expecting the rally to be a massive hit like Rahul’s recent road show in Jaipur.

DAY-LONG VISIT

In Sagwara, Rahul Gandhi will not be holding a road show. On a day-long visit to Dungarpur district, he is also expected to pay homage at the local shrines including Baneswhar Dham. It is an ancient Shiva temple and is a revered shrine for millions of tribal people of the Vagad area.
