The Jat community is irked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving special treatment to the Rajput community during the foundation ceremony of the Pachpadra Refinery project.

They wanted the Prime Minister to remember members of their community also as well as their deities and saints.

Even BJP leaders are hurt by this. Baitu MLA Kailash Chaudhary, who has put his best foot forward for the Prime Minister’s public meeting, also expressed his displeasure on the social media.  Jat leader and Independent candidate Hanuman Beniwal mobilized youths of the community during a massive rally recently and expressed his anguish for allegedly neglecting the community.

During his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Rani Bhatiyani, Nagnechi maa, Raval Mallinath, Sant Tulsaram, Ishwar Das and Sant Dhijuji Megh. Most followers of these deities and saints are Rajputs and Rajpurohits. Modi also remembered former Vice-President late Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, former foreign minister Jaswant Singh and Major Dalpat Singh. In a way, he tried to placate the Rajput community. This came as a shocker for Barmer-Jaisalmer MP Col Sonaram Chaudhary because he was given a ticket in place of Jaswant Singh in the last Lok Sabha election. He kept silent but Baitu MLA Kailash Chaudhary could not hide his resentment.

While thanking the PM on his Facebook account, he said, “He did not take the name of deities of the Jats like Khemababa, Ramdev, Veer Tejaji, Sant Khetaramji, maa Ashapura and Saint Pabji. I believe that a slight error has definitely happened. A committee of the bureaucracy collects information about local religious places and folk deities, and this mistake has happened due to wrong information.”

Here, BJP leader and Barmer Municipal Corporation Chairman Priyanka Chaudhary said that Prime Minister’s speech hurt the feelings of the community but she did not blame the PM for this. She said that the local leaders who are responsible for this.
