A 17,000 km ride, covering several states and riding on a 150cc machine is a 24-year-old Mitsu Chawda from Gujarat. Chawda began her ride from Surat to spread awareness for the soldiers. While speaking to DNA, Chawda said, “I began my journey on 26/11. What better date I could choose for the initiative and my passion.”

On asking about the inspiration for such a difficult ride, she added, “I learnt riding bike an hour before beginning my journey.” At first, Chawda planned the journey with a professional biker, but he wanted to make money out of it, so she chose to go solo.

“He dropped the idea at last moment and thought I’ll ‘lay my weapons and continue with him’, but he was wrong, he wanted to make money, but this was not the case with me,” said Chawda. Nevertheless, I am enjoying my journey till now and riding right after learning biking is a great experience in itself, Chawda added.

Mitsu Chawda has been riding without any pillion or a group. Also, she has no medical support by her side. “ My ride is rough, and really tough. I have been riding slow at 60 kmph, not breaking any rules. Being a lady, it sometimes get difficult to find suitable stopovers, but now I am managing it pretty well, said the rider who has seen and gone through and will see difficult weather conditions en route her 17,000 km journey.

IRANI LEANT SUPPORT

Mitsu Chawda further added, “Smriti Irani also offered to support the ride, but I wanted to do it on my own.”

She will continue her ride ahead and will end it in Gujarat. After Jaipur, Chawda is likely to cover Udaipur and from there she will enter Gujarat.

During her journey, she will make stopovers in various cities. Recently, President Ram Nath Kovind too praised Chawda’s initiative and lauded her bravery to go on a solo ride
across nation.
