Lack of funds remains Jaipur Development Authority’s primary concern

Review meeting of Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) by the urban development minister on Friday remain majorly focused around fiscal distress at the authority. It was the first review of JDA by urban development minister Shanti Dhariwal in his new tenure and officials briefed over a near pause on the revenue generation through an auction of land. The minister instructed for rectification in the auction process and applicable rates. 

Officials held that reserved price brackets applicable in the city are above the prevalent market rates in many areas and an auction on these prices is not possible following which minister asked the rates to be adjusted in proportion to the market value. Adding incentive for the buyers, officials were asked to provision payment of the auction money on an installment basis. 

Other than the fiscal aspect, the minister also expressed keen interest in infrastructure development to ease traffic and parking issues in the city. The officials were instructed to seek options of underpass development at JDA and OTS crossroads on the JLN Marg. He also asked for discovering possibilities of developing multi-level parking at Johari Bazaar and other major markets of Jaipur. 

Its third tenure of Shanti Dhariwal as urban development minister at Congress government in Rajasthan and several of the issues from his last tenure still remained on priority agenda of the development authority. Including these was also an issue of development of Prithviraj Nagar area. The minister ordered for regularisation camps be held for the pending colonies and constitution of an empowered committee to provide a solution for obstructions in regularisation process. A meeting was also proposed with the public health engineering department for installation of a water supply facility in the area. Dhariwal also expressed anguish on unnecessary delays in building plan approval process and instructed for prompt action on the issue.

Price Brackets

Officials held that reserved price brackets applicable in the city are above the prevalent market rates in many areas and an auction on these prices is not possible following which minister asked the rates to be adjusted in proportion to the market value.
