In a bid to woo the Dalits, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has taken an approachable path to convey a subtle message to Congress President Rahul Gandhi and the public. The Sangh’s annual training camps (the Sangh Shiksha Varg) are being organised on the theme of social harmony (Samajik Samrasta) this time. Participants of the 20-day training camps will go to Dalit houses daily and take breakfast with the local residents.
Chapatis for volunteers involved in camps will also come from the houses of people of different societies.It may be recalled here that Congress President Rahul Gandhi had released a video last week, terming the RSS and the BJP anti-Dalit. Gandhi has also targeted the RSS and the BJP on the issue of Dalits on many occasions. Opposition parties have alleged that the upper cast in the RSS is dominating. The RSS has decided to give a message of its ideology through social harmony theme for the Sangh Shiksha Varg. RSS has always been working for social harmony and its volunteers work for all caste and creed, maintains the RSS. Under this programme, volunteers participating in the camp will go to the Seva Basti (SC-ST community colony) daily and have breakfast with local residents.
During the camps, volunteers will go to different Seva Basti every day for a period of 20 days and have breakfast in local peoples’ homes.An RSS office bearer said that lunch and dinner will not be cooked for volunteers at the camp as all will visit homes of local residents in various localities where they will be provided food.
RSS Jaipur volunteers have taken the responsibility to provide food to the participating members coming from outside the city. Local volunteers will pack food from different houses every morning and evening and bring them to the campsite.
20-day camp
RSS has decided to organise 90 Shiksha Varg across the country. It will hold camps at three levels. First and second level camps will be organised at state level. While the third level will be organised at RSS headquarters in Nagpur. All camps started on May 13 and will run till June 2.
