The Southwest Monsoon is once again active in Rajasthan, as a result, many parts of the state including Jaipur city is witnessing showers for the last couple of days.

In Jaipur, the series of scattered showers started from Friday evening and continued on Saturday. It was a cloudy Saturday morning with mild drizzling that turned into light rains around 8 o’clock, the spell lasted for around 15 minutes.

Around 10 am the city witnessed a good spell rains. Areas including Mansarovar, Gopalpura, Vaishali Nagar, Jhotwara, Ajmer Road, Nirman Nagar, Sikar Road, C-Scheme, Delhi Road, Malviya Nagar, Jagatpura and parts of Walled City received very good rainfall. Being it a holiday on the fourth Saturday of the month, people went out with family and friends to make most of the pleasant weather.

As per Local MeT office report, total 3.7 mm of rainfall is recorded in the city on Saturday. The fresh spell of rains brought the mercury significantly down as the maximum and minimum temperatures in the city were recorded 26 and 23.6 degrees Celsius respectively, which were below normal level. The MeT department has forecast that rains with thunderstorm may occur in the city during the next 24 hours.

As per the weathermen, the revival of Southwest Monsoon in the state is attributed to the approaching depression over South Madhya Pradesh. As a result, eastern parts of Rajasthan witnessed moderate to heavy rains over many places during the last 24 hours. However, southwestern parts of the state remained dry and warm, while northern parts also received moderate rainfall activity.

Now, as the same depression lies over southwestern parts of Madhya Pradesh and is moving in the west/northwest direction, it is expected to weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area soon.

This system will further move over to Rajasthan. Simultaneously, the Western Disturbance which lies over the northern parts of Pakistan is moving east. Due to the interaction of both these weather systems, moderate rain over many places along with few heavy spells is expected over eastern, central and northern parts of Rajasthan during the next 24 hours.
