The Moti Dungri Zone team of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation took a major action and sealed 24 shops built on the government land near Moti Dungri Ganesh temple on Wednesday early morning at 5.45 am. The locals protested strongly against the action by burning tyres on the road. In the two-hour long high voltage drama, the people shouted slogans against the local MLA.

The reason of the protest was the sealing of two shops that belong to a BJP worker Roshan Saini, who has also been a councillor and a former chairman of the Municipal Corporation in the previous board. In the morning, two dozen shops were sealed, while encroachment was removed outside other shops. The corporation’s team has taken this action in compliance with the High Court orders.

Deputy Commissioner of the zone Ashok Sankhla was present on the spot during the process. On receiving the information, local SHO Sanjay Sharma also reached the spot and tried to convince the people. Many people including local ward councillor Chandra Bhatia reached there during the protest and the locals showed their displeasure towards Bhatia. Seeing increased protests, additional force was called from the local police station.

During the proceedings, corporation’s Deputy Commissioner Sankhla was not satisfied with the support given from the local police and the officials of the Vigilance Branch. Sankla said that he will also complain to the High Court in this regard. The division bench of Justice Manish Bhandari and Justice GR Moolchandani gave the order on the petition regarding the safety of the Moti Dungri Ganesh temple. The team will also submit the compliance report before the court after clearing the shops.

As soon as the team reached the spot, it started sealing the shops one by one. After sealing 22 shops, BJP workers started protesting as soon as the team members came to seal two shops that belonged to BJP’s former councilkor Saini. 

He also accused the municipal authorities of unilateral action by saying that despite being a BJP worker, the government is not listening to us.
