Four days after an elderly fell off the terrace and died, the city police found the actual reason behind his death. The cops have arrested his daughter-in-law and her father in the matter. The deceased has been identified as Vijay Singh.

Police were shocked to learn that Singh had been murdered by his daughter-in-law’s father, identified as Sri Ram Sen, after she repeatedly alleged that her father-in-law wanted to establish physical relation with her.

However, the matter turned out to be entirely different when the police learnt that it was the married woman named Babita who was in an illicit relationship with someone and when Singh found about it he objected to it. So, the woman got him murdered.

On June 11, the Muhana police was alerted through the control room that an elderly, identified as Vijay Singh, 17, had fallen off the terrace of his house and died.

“SHO Muhana Rajesh Singh reached the spot and examined the site. The body was kept in mortuary and prima facie it appeared that he died due to a head injury and not due to a fall. A report was registered and investigation into the cause of death was initiated,” officials said.

During FSL investigation and site visit by senior officials, the cops learnt that Singh was sleeping outside the house on the night of June 10. Babita’s father was also sleeping on another cot. “It was claimed then that some unidentified man hit Singh on the head at night and Sen came to know about the incident at around 4.45 am on June 11. He alerted Babita and her husband and informed that Singh fell at night and is bleeding. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead,” officials said.

A special team was then formed under supervision of senior officials. “The team questioned Sen, Vijay Singh’s son, Pawan Kumar, Babita and son-in-law Naresh Kumar. It was then learnt that Babita was in an illicit relationship and Singh had found out about it. Due to this, he had been asking Pawan and Babita to shift to Sawai Madhopur while Babita was against that. Moreover, she pressurised the family and got a house constructed in Jaipur where the family started living since May 2018,” officials said.

“Babita then called her father from Gwalior to Jaipur on June 9 and told him that her father-in-law wanted to establish physical relationship with her. She further told him that Singh wanted to sell off the house in Jaipur and keep her with him at Sawai Madhopur,” officials said.

On June 10, Sen reached Jaipur and asked Singh to not sell off the house and let Babita stay in Jaipur. However, Singh declined and a heated argument ensued between the duo.

Sen has confessed to committing the murder after being angry over his daughter’s confessions about Singh’s intentions. However, on the day of Singh’s baithak, his daughter filed a report against Babita and Sen claiming that they murdered her father after which the murder probe was initiated and these facts came to light.
