A major fire broke out in the Rose Garden of Entertainment Paradise on Tonk Road under Jawahar Circle police station area on Thursday noon. However, no loss of life was reported but the authorities have sealed the premises. The reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained.

The presence of flammable material at the marriage garden resulted in fire spreading fast and gutting the sheets, tents and decorative materials worth lakhs. Several blasts were also heard as a large cloud of smoke enveloped the area. Shockingly, it came to light that no no-objection certificate (NOC) had been taken prior to running the property.

According to officials, it is suspected that some welding work was going on which could have sparked the fire. Around 2.50pm, information was received that a huge fire had been sparked on the premises after which fire tenders were pressed into service. Before the tenders reached the spot, the fire had already taken gargantuan proportions,” officials said.

Onlookers amassed at the spot as the police struggled to keep them at bay. “Though a few explosions were also heard, no one was injured. Fire tenders from the nearby located airport also reached the spot as the electricity supply for the area was disconnected. The fire-fighters started dousing the fire and it took nearly an hour  and multiple rounds by a dozen tenders to completely control the fire,” officials said.

Meanwhile, an investigating committee has been formed as Mayor Ashok Lahoti gave orders to seize the premises. The investigating team will find out if there were adequate fire fighting equipment at the place and if they were working or not. The team will also investigate if the constructed portion followed rules and regulations laid by National Building Code as also the arrangements for parking and entry and exit of vehicles. The team will also study the if documents like fire NOC, marriage garden registration and others have been obtained for or not.
