The preparations for the 9th round of bidding to lay down the city gas distribution network and 12 more districts of the state began in Jaipur on Tuesday. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has identified 86 geographical areas across the country for setting up the city gas network.

For this, a road show was conducted at a city hotel on Tuesday. The chairman of the board D K Sarraf was present during this show while Aparna Arora, principal secretary of the department of mines and petroleum was also present in the ceremony. The investors were apprised about the bidding process and their queries were resolved by the officials of the board who were present on the spot.

Sources informed that though this will take a couple of months for the process to complete, this time it’s expected that bidding process for setting up the network in Jaipur will be done.

The process is expected to be over by October, informed sources. Jaipur already has CNG network in Kukas with a daughter station getting gas from mother station in Neemrana, however, the gas network for supplying it to the city is not there, therefore, the gas cannot be distributed to the city.

However, in the 9th round of bidding which will take place in coming days, companies interested in distributing gas to homes and for making fuel pumps will bid raising the hope that after cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Indore etc Jaipur will also run and cook on CNG.
