Managing director of Jaipur discom, R G Gupta informed that now onwards, vigilance action will be taken by the vigilance squad only.
In order to effectively keep a check on electricity theft, Jaipur discom has decided that henceforth only vigilance squad will do the checking work. A new guideline has been issued for this.
Managing director of Jaipur discom, R G Gupta informed that now onwards, vigilance action will be taken by the vigilance squad only. He informed that the squad will comprise assistant engineer, junior engineer and two technical employees. As per requirement, police will also accompany the vigilance squad.
It has been clearly told that no single official of the electricity company will do the checking .
Gupta, informed that the squad will work under direct supervision of executive engineer (O&V) and the squad will also be constituted by executive engineer (O&V).
Discom has also warned of disciplinary action against the official if he is on vigilance checking alone.
Notably, it was also observed in many cases in many places out of Jaipur while in a few cases in Jaipur also when the discom team which had went for vigilance checking faced opposition from consumers and the team was assaulted after theft was noted.
Jaipur discom has actually got stricter with electricity thieves and has arrested 658 offenders this financial year.
There is a massive jump of 182.40% in arrest cases when compared to last financial year, 2016-17 when 233 arrests for electricity theft were made.
Challans were submitted in 365 cases this year, as against 210 challans submitted last year.
The number of FIR’s filed in electricity theft cases has also increased from 9,518 done last year to 9,809 done this year.
