Football fever in Russia rubbed off on residents in Jaipur who hit the lounges and the clubs to grab the action in inaugural match played between Russia and Saudi Arabia. Jaipur with its mushrooming pubs and cafes has grown an insatiable appetite for sports. Many cafes and lounges in the city are holding live screening of the FIFA world cup matches for the football lovers and many have interesting offers for their guests. 

Clubs like AU Rajasthan Football Club spoke of how children are more inclined towards the sports than before. The connect of the sports with the youth in Jaipur has definitely improved, they said. Even the Wax Museum atop Naharagarh couldn’t escape the football fever and invited guests and kids to pose with the statue of football star Lionel Messi.  

Where’s the match?

Holywood is offering various combos inspired by the name of football players along with the screening, while #WTF Sports Bar has interesting competitions lined up for the fans. Kafka, HOP, Capetown, LIT, Polo Inn Club and Lounge, Skyfall and Asteria are all treating guests who walk-in to the live screenings.

FIFA fever at Jaipur Wax Museum

Football enthusiasts looking for their dope on the ongoing FIFA world cup found themselves ambling into the Jaipur Wax Museum on Thursday. The wax museum has the statue of the Argentine forwarder Lionel Messi which was the star attraction before the opening ceremony in Russia. Among the visitors were the kids enrolled with the Jaipur Football Club who visited the museum specially to have themselves photographed with the international star.

‘We shall have our own home team’

The FIFA World Cup frenzy is a reflection of how Jaipur’s heart also beats for a sport that’s not cricket. AU Rajasthan Football Club which is providing a platform to local talent, is aiming to give opportunity to the youth of Rajasthan to play from their home team like Mohun Bagan. Representatives of the club said there are a lot of takers for this game in Jaipur, now. “We had invited national-level football players to our club recently, which was received very well,” a club official said.
