Parents whose pockets have been hit due to ‘unjustified’ raise in fee by city-based private and convent schools have chosen ‘protest and demonstration’ as their way to make the authorities hear their plight. The path seems to be increasingly accepted.

Several parents who have their wards studying at St Angela Sophia Senior Secondary School, protested at Shiksha Sankul on Wednesday, seeking remedy for the alleged fee hike.

They also gave a written application to the District Education Officer, explaining the year-on-year increase in the fees, as well as the overall impact on their pockets.

“About 25 of us went to meet the DEO while the rest waited outside Shiksha Sankul. He has assured us that he will formulate an inspection committee to look into the matter. The report of the committee will be out in a few days,”said a parent who did not want to be named.

“We explained the comparison of the percentage of the fee increased this year and the already existing difference in the fee for class 10 and 12,” he added.

Jaipur Congress president, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas further stated that government’s inability to roll back the increase in fee is a failure.

Sister Ramona, principal of the school, earlier told DNA that the school is aware of the plight of the parents but the fee is required to implement the Seventh Pay Commission.
