Dr BR Ambedkar statue vandalised in Jodhpur

The statue of Dalit icon Dr BR Ambedkar has been vandalised in Shergarh town of Jodhpur on Monday morning. The statue was destroyed by unknown people and when the locals came to know about it, they were incensed and to ensure things remain under control, extra police was rushed to the spot to contain the anger of people.

At present, the situation is under control and the police and administrative officials pacified the people.

It was when a few people saw the statue in ruins they immediately informed the police. Subsequently, a crowd of people gathered at the spot. Some people say that the statue was intact till 5 am.

It was the top administrative and police officers who reached the spot. Foot marks of two people have been found near the statue. SDM Chandra Shekhar reached the spot and covered the statue and spoke to the people there who were demanding the arrest of those who damaged the statue.

Seeing the number of people gathering at the incident site, additional police force was sent to Shergarh from three nearby police stations. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
