If on one hand the entire Pink City is embarking on Swacch Bharat Mission with an aim to beautify and to inspire the concept of cleanliness among masses, on the other the Jaipur Metro stations and the Metro corridor are lying neglected. The metro station and the corridor was launched with great fanfare, but its image is losing sheen with several of its areas being used to dump garbage and staining walls and floor with gutkha spit. Not just the maintenance staff, but also the passengers are a part of the problem.

Startlingly, Jaipur Metro has recovered 4.40 lakh rupees by invoicing 2,200 passengers for spreading dirt within three years (Rs200 was fined per person). Despite fine, the passengers are not holding back from putting brakes on their condemnable habits.

Moreover, Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) is ensuring cleanliness of the platforms, metro trains and concourse area of the metro station premises, but the cleaning of the metro station’s non-passenger area and ATM cabin is not being paid attention to.

One extra floor has been made in Civil Lines and Ramnagar Metro station and it was planned that they will be rented to some private company to ensure it is managed properly. But unfortunately, in the last three years, no company has been given the charge and the two floors are lying unkempt.

Pigeons have made their home, filth can be easily spotted just anywhere and thick dust piling there have become the order of the day.

Similarly, JMRC has put Bank ATMs in every station. Outside these ATMs, waste can be found scattered for in the absence of dustbins, people hurl junk on the floor.

Last year, under the leadership of the councillor Dinesh Kanwat, team-9 spruced up the median. But everything else is lying ignored.
