Demarcation and survey for elevated road at Jhotwara gained pace on Saturday, covering 126 properties falling on the proposed road track. Support from local trader organisations has made the task easier for Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and officials expect demarcation to be completed over next couple of days.

“All the five major trader organisations of the area have expressed support for the elevated road and thus there has been no major protest,” says JDA Zone 6 deputy commissioner, Manish Kumar. The JDA had previously demanded 150 police men for the drive and the demarcation work got delayed by two weeks. The authority officials in the meantime were able to reach an understanding with the traders. Following which the task commenced with the force available at the local police station. It had been more than a year that the project including expansion of the Jhotwara railway over bridge and elevated road received financial sanctions. Ground work on the project though had been delayed due to protest of the affected families.

According to officials, there are 578 properties situated on the proposed trajectory of the elevated road. Attempts of officials elped develop consensus on the rehabilitation package.

Bajri Crisis

The Bajri crisis has also raised concern for the contractors bidding for the Jhotwara Railway over bridge project.

At the pre bid meeting, questions were raised over use of crusher sand and manufactured sand as substitute. Jaipur Development Authority has permitted use of these under the prevalent standards.

Operation Kukas

Attempts to foil an illegal colony on 260 bigha of government land at Kukas were foiled by JDA. The authority demolished walls and boundaries constructed on the land and took possession of the area along with another adjoining 130 bighas of land. According to officials there were around 70 illegal structures  demolished.
