To ensure free and fair examinations for selection of constables on Saturday and Sunday, the government has ordered a ban on internet services at 200-plus centres across the state, including in Jaipur. The ban impacts all generations of internet services, including 2G, 3G and 4G services, provided by the telecom companies in state.

The ban on internet would be in place for 9 hours. “At all exam centres, internet services would be discontinued from 8 am to 5 pm on both days,” and official with the Jaipur district administration said. Entrance exams are being held for more than 13,000 posts of constables advertised by the state government. The constable recruitment examination will be held on July 14 and 15 in Rajasthan.

Divisional Commissioner of Jaipur, T Ravikant, ordered a temporary ban on the internet services on Friday evening. “The ban would be effective in and around 209 exam centres falling under the Jaipur police commissionerate and 10 centres in the Jaipur rural region,” an official with the Jaipur Collectorate said.

Last time around, the constable recruitment drive was plagued by paper leak and unruly mob-like behaviour. Heavy security arrangements have, therefore, been ordered at all exam centres, this time. The security arrangements are being supervised by the Police Headquarters in Jaipur. The entry of students will be allowed only through biometric attendance system. All exam centres have been placed under the surveillance of CCTV cameras.
