Ahead of the Rajasthan assembly election which is slated to be held during the year-end, the youth Congress is planning to roll out a campaign to give a boost to its membership drive. The campaign will run from March 27.

Rajasthan youth Congress president and MLA from Hindoli Ashok Chandna, state in-charge Devendra Kadiyan and membership programme in-charge Jagdeep Singh started the campaign on Friday at the youth Congress office.

During this campaign, which will run for over a month, the youth Congress decided to rope in as many people it can as members in order to connect with young voters before the big day – the assembly election.

Sources within the party said that the membership programme could also be seen as getting ready for the organisation polls well before campaigning for the assembly polls.

The zonal in-charge has been appointed in the youth Congress recently. Almost two years later, the organization election appears in sight as sitting president Chandna has been given extension two times in a row.

It is still not clear whether the organization election in the wing will be held before or after the assembly election. Sources said that the current president Chandna wants to avoid the organisation election before the assembly election, while leaders like Sumit Bhagasara, Mukesh Bhakar and Pramendra Sihag want organisation election at the earliest. If the party goes ahead with organizational election, then Chandna may contest again.
