With an eye on upcoming assembly elections this year and general elections next year, the Congress is preparing a team of spokespersons. A three-day talent search programme in this regard concluded on Saturday.
This exercise has been conducted with an eye to strengthen the party as well as to create an army of leaders who can convey message to the masses, but it is easier said than done. During the programme, media coordinator Pranav Jha and Rohan Gupta from Delhi interacted with party workers. They discussed various party matters and took their views on political developments. They also asked them how to strengthen the party.
In the last three days, AICC representatives spoke to around 600 workers. There were people from all walks of life including doctors, lawyers, RTI activists and social workers. Some of them are already affiliated with the party while there were some fresh faces interested in joining the party.
Congress said that this programme will not stop and instead will continue online. Though, the party believes that some caution is required while holding such programmes. Moreover, the AICC will soon organise a training programme for those selected in the list of the party’s prospective spokesperson to prepare them put forth the party’s view on right forums.
Both, Pranav Jha and Rohan Gupta gave 10 minutes to each worker who seemed satisfied with the exercise. Pranav Jha also considered this exercise a good thing. He said that party workers are enthused and the talent search got a good response.
