The Congress will soon launch 'Shakti' — a contact initiative in the poll-bound Rajasthan to let party president Rahul Gandhi and other AICC leaders directly communicate with grassroots workers to strengthen the state unit ahead of assembly elections.

Expected to be launched before the second week of March, the initiative is the brainchild of the party president himself. It comes as the party is taking efforts to energise its state body by directly engaging with the workers.

The Congress hopes that a direct communication with the president will help boost the morale of party workers who are already upbeat with three wins in the recently held bypolls and are eager to wrest back power from Vasundhara Raje-led state government.

'Shakti' is the party's technology intervention. Under this, Rahul Gandhi and chosen senior leaders will be able to communicate with anyone or all party workers via phone call, text, video, etc. In addition, the workers will also get notifications about party events.

The Congress's Rajasthan unit had last year tasked 230 coordinators with creating a data base of its ground-level functionaries, numbering around 16 lakh.

Apart from 'Shakti', the Congress will also implement its "Mera Booth, Mera Gaurav" programme to micromanage its poll campaign.
