Cold wave claims lives of 3 farmers in Kota

Persistent cold wave since the past few days has claimed lives of three farmers on the intervening nights of Saturday-Sunday and Sunday-Monday in Baran and Bundi districts of Hadouti region.

A 62-year-old farmer identified as Chotulal Yogi, a resident of Lisadiya village under Baran Sadar police station allegedly died of cold late on Sunday night while he was working on his field, said Aashish Bhargav the SHO at Baran Sadar police station. 

The deceased farmer and his son Phralad on Sunday late evening had gone to water the crops in the fields when he suddenly collapsed unconscious, his son said while adding that the farmer was immediately rushed to the hospital in Baran where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The son of the deceased farmer in his report to the police has alleged that his father died due to shivering cold, however, he refused to give permission for postmortem in writing following which the body was then handed over to the family members.

Similarly, two other farmers identified as Ranveer Suman, 32, a resident of Bohat village under Mangrole police station of Baran district and Kalyan Singh, 62, of Devji ka Thana village under Hindoli police station of Bundi district too collapsed unconscious on the intervening nights of Saturday and Sunday while they were watering the crops in their respective fields. Ranveer’s body was handed over to his family members after postmortem and a case under section 174 was lodged in this connection for further investigation, said a police personnel at Mangrole police station.

Meanwhile, severe cold wave conditions continued unabated in parts of Rajasthan, where the mercury dipped to minus 1.1° Celsius in Churu district. The sole hill station Mt Abu recorded 0° Celsius, while Bhilwara registered 0.8° Celsius. Sikar and Chittorgarh shivered at 2, Vanasthali and Dabok at 2.8 degrees, and Kota 5 degree Celsius. The night temperature in Jaipur was 5.2 degree Celsius. Cold wave conditions prevailed in many areas.
