It appears that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  faces a grave dilemma in declaring candidates on Jaipur seats that has been its forte for the past two decades. In the first list of the candidates announced by the BJP national general secretary JP Nadda, 5 out of 8 seats from Jaipur were declared while candidature in the remaining 3 seats have been held back.

The party has repeated its five sitting MLAs in Jaipur city showing trust in their capabilities. Ashok Parnami (ex-state president) from Adarsh Nagar, Narpat Singh Rajvi from Vidhyadhar Nagar, Arun Chaturvedi from Civil Lines, Surendra Pareek from Hawa Mahal and Mohan Lal Gupta from Kishanpole have been repeated from Jaipur.

The speculations were rife since long that both Chaturvedi and Rajvi could be shifted to other seats. However, the party showed full trust in them and repeated their candidature. Parnami, who won two previous elections with a thin margin has been repeated from Adarsh Nagar seat.

On the other hand, the party shied away from declaring candidates in remaining three seats in Jaipur, namely Malviya Nagar, Sanganer and Bagru. It appears that party is taking time to churn name against the rebel BJP leader Ghanshyam Tiwari who won previous Assembly election with a historical margin from Sanganer and has now founded his party Bharat Vahini Party (BVP) recently. The central leadership have decided to declare candidates in the second list that would be released between November 14 and 18.

Similarly, the senior leaders are in a serious dilemma whether they change Kali Charan Sarraf from Malviya Nagar seat, or not, and hence his candidature was not announced in first list. There were serious allegations against Sarraf and the party wishes to replace him. Candidature in Bagru, represented by Kailash Verma, has also been held back.

The sources informed that the party leaders would reveal candidates on these seats once the Congress list is  released. The Congress list is expected to be released by Tuesday. It would give them an edge to set caste-creed equations in the seats, particularly in Malviya Nagar and Sanganer.

In Jaipur rural, the party has declared 5 seats out of 11 candidates. Satish Punia from Amber, Rao Rajendra Singh from Shahpura, Phool Chand Bhinda from Virat Nagar, Nirmal Kumawat from Phulera and Ramlal Sharma from Chomu have been repeated. The party is yet to declare remaining six seats.
