Bisalpur dam in Deoli of Tonk district, which has become the lifeline of Rajasthan, has reached its minimum water level in the last ten years. The situation is that there has been a huge reduction in drinking water supply in hundreds of villages and several cities including Tonk, Ajmer, Jaipur.

Within the last five months, 6 TMC water has been vapourized. Now, if there is no rain in the coming days, then the dam water will be able to serve the people of cities like Jaipur and Ajmer for only 3 months, till November. The total water level of the dam is 315.50 RL metres and 38.70 TMC water is filled in it.

Now, the gauge of the dam is recorded as 309.19 RL metres. Only 8.61 TMC of water is remaining, which is 22.24% of the total water capacity. Assistant Engineer of Dam Project Manish Bansal said that till date, 4 TMC water has been given for irrigation and 10.35 TMC for drinking. On one hand, the water level of the dam is decreasing and on the other hand, the dam is constantly accumulating the waste, which is reducing the capacity of the dam.

However, the dam officers have not taken any action on the same. The concern for the farmers of the Tonk district has also increased. According to officials of Bisalpur Dam, the situation got worse than now in the year 2010, when tubewells were dug in the Bisalpur dam.
