When saying ‘i do’ got viral

The year end saw Rajasthan in limelight for hosting many celebrity weddings and events. Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas wedding and pre-wedding ceremonies of Isha Ambani-Anand Piramal kept Jodhpur and Udaipur in news. Ambani and Piramal got pretty much the entire Bollywood cast and two US Democratic presidential candidates and senators to dance at their celebration in Udaipur. The Ambanis also flew down Beyonce for a private concert. While American singer Jonas and Bollywood actress Priyanka’s grand ceremony at the Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur  sent the social media in a tizzy with their photos. Their 18-feet wedding cake spawned many memes.  Both the wedding extravaganza were much talked about in social media with many stars uploading pictures on Instagram.

Uncapped players sell big at IPL auction

The IPL auction 2019 were held in Jaipur this time and it had 351 players on list against 70 vacant spots. Of these only 60 got filled for a total cost of Rs106.8 crore, on average less than Rs 2 crore per player. Among the top bid players, all rounder Varun Chakaravarthy was listed at base price of Rs 20 lakh but was sold at 8.4 crore. As the auction proceeded there were several surprises for the fans as many lesser known players drew huge bids while highest bid player of 2015, Yuvraj Singh, went unsold in the first round. He later got sold for Rs1 crore.  

Will elevated road reach its destination?

The people of Jaipur hope that the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will be able to complete the 22-Godam elevated road connecting the busy Sodala to Ambdekar Circle. The road is expected to save nearly 40 minutes of travel time and decongest Hawa Sadak as it would offer a non-stop drive at a speed of up to 60 kmph. 

More waivers for farmers to reap this year

It’s raining waivers in state. The BJP government announced the waiver of loans taken by small and marginal farmers this year. The Congress, followed it up with a “bigger and a better” waiver scheme of about 19,000 crore rupees.  

Refinery dream in the pipeline

Both Ashok Gehlot and Vasundhara Raje governments staked claim on the oil refinery project coming up in Barmer. After much political juggling, the refinery is underway and is expected to be the gold rush for state.

Khaleel Ahmed, the young cricketer from Tonk, has been selected in the Indian cricket team. He is a left-arm medium-fast bowler who has impressed the selectors with his raw talent. He is set to play for India in the new year.

After flip-flops through years, the National Highway 8, popularly known as the Delhi-Jaipur highway, work on six-laning is expected to complete this year. Union minister Nitin Gadkari has promsied to fast-track work.
