Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore put up a clinical and dominating performance against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2020 clash in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Led by a brilliant spell of bowling from Mohammed Siraj, who became the first bowler to bowl two maidens in a match, Royal Challengers Bangalore restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 84/9 in 20 overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the target with 39 balls to spare. The big win has boosted Royal Challengers Bangalore’s net run-rate and has put them one step closer to sealing a spot in the play-offs. The big loss, though, has impacted Kolkata Knight Riders big time and it has also given the other teams in the bottom half a life-line.

Kolkata Knight Riders remain stuck on 10 points but the big loss has dented their net run-rate in a big way, so much so that they now have the worst NRR among all the teams. This has given Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab and even Chennai Super Kings the chance to stake a claim for the fourth spot. If Rajasthan Royals win against Sunrisers Hyderabad, then they will go to the fourth spot. If Sunrisers Hyderabad wins, then Kolkata Knight Riders will remain in the fourth spot but the pressure will grow intensely on them.
