Mumbai Indians (MI) - a most successful franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) - is lead by Rohit Sharma. The team, which won their record fourth title in 2019, beefed up their squad during the December mini-auction by adding a lot of dynamic players.

From Chris Lynn at the top, Saurabh Tiwari in the middle-order, Sherfane Rutherford as the all-rounder, and Trent Boult, Dhawal Kulkarni and Nathan Coulter-Nile in the bowling department - Mumbai Indians did a pretty good job with getting their players on board.

The defending champions, who will be eyeing to keep the winning momentum going, will have a huge task at hand as UAE has not been friendly to them.

In 2014, the IPL campaign was held in two halves due to the General Elections. The first half was in the UAE and it was a total nightmare for the Mumbai franchise. In the second half, which was held in India, they somehow managed to reach the knockouts.

Strengths of Mumbai Indians

Dangerous Top-order: Rohit Sharma along with Quinton de Kock or Chris Lynn is definitely an opening the team will look for as they start the 2020 edition.

Mumbai Indians would have one of the most dangerous top-order of the tournament; only to precede David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and Kane Williamson of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Even if two of the three players play at the top, MI have No 3, Suryakumar Yadav who is equally good and destructive.

Pace Bowling Line-up: Dhawal Kulkarni, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McCleneghan, Nathan Coulter-Nile, and Trent Boult - these names are enough to show how deadly the bowling unit is.

While Bumrah would lead the pace attack, and no Lasith Malinga in the squad, Trent Boult would be filling up the spot, Dhawal, Mitch & Coulter-Nile would provide for perfect backups.

All-rounder as Match-winners: Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard have been Mumbai Indians’ core match winners for quite some time. While Hardik and Krunal contribute in all the three departments, Kieron Pollard is an effect when it comes to batting and fielding.

Weakness

No. 4 debate: Just like Team India, MI to don’t have a primary good number 4. The side has to rely on Ishan Kishan, Saurabh Tiwari, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, or KrunalPandya to play on this spot.

Playing players like Hardik, Krunal, or Pollard, at 4, 5, and 6 makes their tail slightly weak. On the other hand, playing Ishan Kishan or Saurabh Tiwari would not wipe out their number 4 problem completely.
