Youth's body found in East Delhi

The body of an unidentified youth was today discovered in a vacant plot in East Delhi with the police suspecting it to be a case of murder.

The body was found in the vacant plot close to a petrol pump in Vasundhra Enclave at around 9 am. A case of murder has been registered as the body bore injury marks on his head and face.

"It appears that he was attacked with some hard object on head and face. He is yet to be identified," a senior police officer said.

The police were questioning locals.

According to Delhi Police statistics, a total of 764 unidentified bodies were recovered this year so far with North Delhi topping the list with 181. Crime and Railways wing registered 141 similar cases this year so far.

The figures for other districts are: Central (85), North-West (54), Outer (48), West (46), East (45), North-East (45), South (37), New Delhi (32), South-East (31 each), South-West (18) and IGI (1).
