A 26-year-old "jilted lover" allegedly committed suicide in front of his female friend's hostel in south Delhi, police said today.
Rahul Goel, a resident of Karnal in Haryana, had befriended a girl during chatting on the internet and developed feelings for her. The girl, an MBBS from Jammu, has been staying in a hostel in Hauz Khas.
Yesterday, Rahul left his house saying he was going to meet his friend in Delhi and then reached the girl's hostel in the evening and told her that he had consumed some poisonous substance.
She took him to Max Hospital in Saket besides informing his parents. Rahul died in the early hours today.
No suicide note has been found, police said, adding it appears to be a case of "one-sided love affair". Rahul ran a coaching centre in Karnal.
