A woman suspectedly committed suicide at her Satellite residence in the wee hours of Sunday by shooting herself with a revolver.

Sources said that the victim, 46-year-old Dhruv Parni, sustained three bullet injuries in her body. Interestingly, Dhruv, who reportedly weighed around 140 kg, lived for almost half an hour after she shot herself.

She was rushed to SAL Hospital where she died. Although Dhruv did not leave behind any suicide note, it is believed that she had a tiff with her husband before the incident. Some cases had been filed against her under the Negotiable Instruments Act in Ahmedabad and Rajasthan. Her husband, Surendra Parni, is a financier. He landed in a debt a few months back. The Parnis had moved into Asavari Towers, behind Fun Republic cinema, about eight months back.

Reliable sources said that Surendra had issued some cheques to his clients in the name of his wife. However, the cheques bounced because of which cases were filed against Dhruv in Banswada, Kishangadh and Bhilwada in Rajasthan and also in Ahmedabad. The couple used to have frequent tiffs over the issue.

On Saturday night, the couple again had a fight after which Dhruv went inside her bedroom. Between 12:30 am and 1:30 am, gun shots were heard from inside the bedroom. Following this, family members rushed to the spot.  According to police, the licensed revolver of Surendra was found on the spot. Dhruv had sustained three bullet injuries in her body.

Inspector HB Jamod of Satellite police station said, "Three bullets were recovered and three shots were fired. However, more details can be revealed after further investigation in the matter."

FSL officials said that gunpowder was found in the hands of the deceased. "We found gunpowder in the hands of the deceased. Although prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide, more can be said after the results of the gunpowder sample come in," said an FSL expert.

Dhruv is survived by her husband and 20-year- old daughter Surabhi, a student.
