Woman files case against ex-mayor

The case of attack at the farmhouse of the city’s ex-mayor, Padmashree Dr VC Patel, took a twist on Monday with a woman complaining about being threatened by Dr Patel's daughter, Dr Sujata Modi, and his men while she was working at her farm on Sunday. The rural police have lodged a cross complaint and initiated investigations. Some arrests in the farmhouse attack case are expected soon. 

In the said attack, Dr Patel’s farmhouse, Sanjiv Farm and Nursery, at Ampad village was attacked by a mob of about 40 persons who fired in the air and pelted stones on the building while Sujata and her friends were there for a picnic. Farm manager, Jhelabhai Bharvad, was seriously injured in the attack. Bairajben Ramsingh Makwana, a resident of Lakdikui village of Padra taluka, lodged a complaint saying that she was threatened by Dr Sujata Modi, her husband, manager and others while she was working at her farm near Patel’s farmhouse.
