Woman drowned in Bihar as boat capsizes in Kosi river

A woman was drowned and three others were missing as a boat capsized in the Kosi river on Chatra ghat in Madhepura district, police said today.

A woman was drowned and three others were missing as a boat capsized in the Kosi river on Chatra ghat in Madhepura district, police said today.

Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Udhakishunganj, Gajendra Prasad Singh said that the ill-fated boat carrying eight people capsized in the river last evening of which four persons swam out safely, while a woman was drowned and three others were missing.

The deceased woman has been identified as Jhinia Devi, a native of Kalauta village, and her body has been fished out from the river, he said.

Three others - Santoshi Devi, Sita Devi and Munmun Kumar were missing, Singh said, adding the divers have been pressed into service in search of the three missing persons.
