“Either death or continuing in the path of the Left ideology is the only future of West Bengal,” Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said, while kick-starting the campaign for next year’s assembly elections being considered the toughest poll battle for the CPI(M) since 1977.

Explaining why he had cited the two extreme options, the chief minister said: “While in the hands of the Left, the state’s future is all-round development, in the hands of the evil nexus of Trinamool Congress, killer Maoists and separatist Gorkha Janamukti Morcha [GJM], the state’s future is total doom.”

“We in the Left Front are trying our best to drive Maoists away from West Bengal. What is the Trinamool doing? They are helping Maoists to spread to other states from West Bengal, their existing stronghold. Why so? Because Trinamool wants the help of Maoists to eliminate us. That will never be possible,” said an aggressive Bhattacharjee at a mega rally on Tuesday.

He alleged Trinamool was in clandestine partnership with the separatist GJM. “The Trinamool supremo, Mamata Banerjee, silently went to Darjeeling and had meeting with GJM leaders. After that she said she would solve the Gorkhland problem in a minute. But how? She has no answer. Why?” questioned the chief minister.

Bhattacharjee was, however, through out his speech silent about Trinamool’s principal political ally in West Bengal, Congress.
