Villages near river Ganga put on high alert

Due to incessant rains in Uttar Pradesh since last two days, the water level of Ganga river is rising speedily and now it is just 36cm below the danger-mark (198.34m) at Brij Ghat, officials said.

A high alert has been sounded in over 12 villages situated near river Ganga following the water level nearing the danger-mark at Brij Ghat and Bijnore Barrage.

Due to incessant rains in Uttar Pradesh since last two days, the water level of Ganga river is rising speedily and now it is just 36cm below the danger-mark (198.34m) at Brij Ghat, officials said.

Also at Bijnore Barrage, the Ganga river is just 2cm below the danger-level, they said.

The villagers have been asked to remain alert. All arrangements have been made to tackle the flood situation, if arises, district magistrate Hredesh Kumar said.
