Undertrial flees from hospital in Surat

Ravikumar Patil, a resident of Rehman Bapuni chawl in Subhashnagar and an undertrial prisoner in Surat sub-jail, fled from police custody at the new civil hospital on Friday morning.

Patil had earlier complained of body pain and was brought to hospital for treatment. While waiting for his turn, Patil sought permission from police officials to use the bathroom. The cops allowed him. On his way to the bathroom he pushed the security personnel accompanying him and fled from the spot.

Police tried to search him, but could not trace him till late in the evening. Patil is accused of abducting and raping a minor girl and was arrested by police two months ago. A case has been registered at Khatodara police station.
